Hello and Welcome to,

University Diary No.1
How are you doing? So many of you are going back to school or starting university and I really hope you’re all settling in well and are enjoying this exciting time.
Me, well, I’m slightly freaking out! In less than a weeks time I’ll be packing up my things and I’ll be moving into my university accommodation (cue the nervous screams). It has come around so quickly and honestly, I’m slightly worried. BUT… I am throwing myself into it and in the words of Hamilton & Lin-Manuel Miranda – ‘I am not throwing away my shot’!
So with me being the first and only one out of all my brothers and sisters to go to university, I decided I wanted to experience every aspect of the uni life, and document as I go in a form of a diary. This way my family can stay up to date with what I have been getting up to, I have something to look back on in the years to come, and those planning on going to university in the future can see what it’s like from someone’s point of view.
You can expect me to talk about a range of things from what to take, how I deal with my anxiety while I am there, the process of making friends, my classes…etc.
If there is anything in particular that you’d like for me to write about, then let me know in the comments below.
First of, to get these diaries started, I am going to answer the one question that everyone has asked me since I told them I had applied for university and accommodation, and that is:
How are you feeling?
The annoying thing about this question is that the answer varies day to day. However, what I have noticed is that it is a combination of nerves and excitement.
A large part of me is so excited to meet new friends, to begin my course, for the parties, joining a society, and having my very own en-suite.
On the other hand, I have never lived away from home, I’m not great at cooking, and I actually have to grow up and look after myself – which scares the living daylights out of me. Luckily for me though I am only going to be about 30 or so minutes from home, so that’s keeping my mind at ease. I also plan to keep busy (uploading on here more frequently) and try to enjoy every minute of this experience and hopefully, those fears will slowly fade out.
From how I am feeling right now, and the advice I would give to people is to just relax. If you really don’t like it it’s not the end of the world, but give it a go because you may surprise yourself – and that’s the advice I’ll be telling myself as I move into my new flat.
I’ll aim to upload these University Diaries as frequently as I can and I welcome comments from other peoples experiences and how they’re feeling too!
No.2 will be a University Haul!! So make sure you’re following or subscribed to the blog to be notified when it’ll be uploaded!
That’s all for now!
Until next time,
